How this publication is funded. Two declared lines, both visible on every page. Paid entries in the trade register, which serves food businesses rather than shoppers, is published alphabetically, is marked as paid and is never a ranking. And a labelled sponsor line in the newsletter, sold against a published rate card that states in writing what sponsorship cannot buy. There are no affiliate links anywhere on this site, no product recommendations and no sponsored tastings, because recommending groceries is precisely the incentive this title exists to sit outside.
What we do not do. We do not name brands, retailers, suppliers or products, and we do not publish prices, market shares or sales figures. Pack wording quoted in the shelf edge blocks is written generically to represent a style of wording found on shelves, not copied from any actual pack. We do not rank businesses. We do not carry display advertising.
This is consumer information, not nutrition, dietary or clinical advice. For anything to do with diet, allergy, intolerance or a medical condition, speak to your GP, to a registered dietitian, or start with the NHS. For food law and food safety, the primary sources are the Food Standards Agency and Food Standards Scotland.
